We developed a gypsum wall that is carbon net zero. In the context of a SBIR grant from the Environmental Protection Agency we were able to prototype how we can impact an industry that emits millions of tons of CO2e every year.

We developed a fully biodegradable black plastic film. We prototyped a black mulch film that performed in the film, this without carbon black an additive that whose manufacture emits millions of tons of CO2e every year.

We developed a similar cost, carbon neutral brick for non-structural uses. This is badly needed as the construction industry still utilizes cement for non-structural applications (pavers, etc.) which emits millions of tons of CO2e every year.

It also helps capture and retain nutrients, reducing nutrient loss in the digestate. Moreover, biochar reduces odors in AD systems, improving operational conditions. The biochar-enriched digestate can then be used as a nutrient-rich soil amendment, promoting carbon sequestration while improving soil health. By integrating biochar into AD processes, operators can close the loop on waste, turning food waste into biochar and digestate, and creating a circular, sustainable bioeconomy.

This accelerates the breakdown of organic matter, leading to faster compost maturity times. Its porous structure captures and stores nutrients, preventing them from leaching out during the composting process, which enhances the quality of the final compost product. Additionally, biochar reduces odors in large compost piles by binding them to volatile gases responsible for bad smells, making the composting operation more pleasant and efficient. Composters can achieve circularity by pyrolyzing their own excess food waste, turning it into biochar, and then adding it back to the compost pile. This not only recycles organic waste but also enriches the compost with valuable carbon and nutrients, promoting sustainable waste management.
